Made to order Top Mounted Dust Collector Insirst fot the CarveWright/CompuCarve Woodworking System

Top Mount Dust Collector Insert for the CarveWright/CompuCarver Woodworking System

Simple modification to the door!

NOTE: disabling or modifying any safety features on your CarveWright/CompuCarve is not endorsed by LHR Technologies, Inc.

Install the DC-Insert into the CW.

Mark a line on each side of the frame
1/16" to 1/8" above  the top of the DC-Insert

Remove the DC-Insert and close the door.
With a straight edge or ruler transfer the marks to the door

The door can easily be cut to size with a dremile/rotary tool with a cut off wheel. Make sure you support the door and  cover the inside of the CW. File or sand down the cut off edge of the door
to remove any burrs.

I re-attached the cut off part of the door
using some CA glue. See picture below..

Plenty of access to the QC/Rock for bit changes

Installation Procedure
Locking system to hold the DC-Insert securely in place.
Install the insert into the CW/CC, insure the lip on the front of the insert slides over the bottom rail of the frame above the compression roller. Pull back and lower the insert to insure it is in place.
Tighten the 2 thumb screws to hold the insert in place.

To check for proper installation, lightly lift up on the insert to make sure it does not move.

With the power off on the CW/CC move the
Z-Truck back and forth and raise/lower the cutting head to insure it does not come in contact with the front of the insert.

Some comments from those who have purchased the DC Insert:

Thank you Floyd for putting together my order so quickly. I am looking forward to using it. I have heard so many good things about it on the forum. Once I get it set-up and see the results, I will tell others too.

I really like it. I can't believe how little dust I have. I only have to blow out the machine after every third carving now. A nice time saver.
Thanks,

WOW, didn’t know I was entitled to upgrades!

Still love the unit, does a great job on
picking up the chips while doing
litho's ..

Got the DC hood Works great.  For me the Screws are the ticket makes it much more stable feeling when I get in there to change bits in the rock

Thanks for the fast ship and all you have helped a lot

DC arrived safe & sound!

Perfect fit & finish on the unit.

works great, used with 1-1/2 hp fox dc system very little dust

From day one I had a downdraft system on my machine and thought it was the best way to go. There was less dust then not having a downdraft but I still had to blow dust out of the machine after every carve. It was in every nook and cranny you could think of. And EVERY problem I have had is because of the dust. Then FWHARRIS came out with his DC INSERT. What a difference!!! The dust is so minimal it is hardly worth mentioning. In all honesty, when I blow it out now (after every other carve) there is not enough dust to fill the cap on a tube of toothpaste. Yes, the bottom 1" of the cover door had to be cut off, but believe me, that is a small price to pay for the fact that I will now have fewer dust related problems.

This thing is well worth the money. I believe it to be second to the Rock. After putting it in, I had very little dust.

I got it first thing this morning Floyd. It is awesome!! Got it all hooked up and there is hardly any dust inside at all. Not even enough to fill the cap on a tube of toothpaste!! I will add pictures in few minutes.

works really well ,also fast shipping ,easy to remove bits ,using the rock thanks rn

I wanted to give a f/u on RNs DC. Im now running 2 on my units The fist thing is they work well barely anything left in a carve after 6 hrs. Even in Cedar which goes all over the place. Picks up the heavy wood like Walnut and Cherry the same. There was an issue with his clamp sys which he has already fixed with a heavier hold down which once in place I have been able to change bits in the Rock without removing the DC hood.

This is a very light hood, I had to remove a bit of my Door but was no problem using a lexan knife you just draw a straight line 3 or 4 times and pop it off like glass use a metal rule to do it
I can not tell you how much this has cut down on the dust in the shop. Also RN shipped fast got mine in 2 days
